Lighthouse Youth Ministry

1 Timothy 4:12:  Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.

Thank you for letting us be a part of your family and sharing your kids with us.  We wanted to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves and our upcoming goals for this year.  Our first objective is to build on the Christian foundation that you have started at home and work along with you to see their spiritual life grow and mature.  We want to provide the means for them to be inwardly strong yet outwardly focused as we strive to be ourselves thru the activities that are planned and yet to be scheduled.  We look forward to your continued support and prayers.

Goals:
We want to increase their spiritual relationship with prayer and reading the Bible.  We want to provide a safe and fun environment in which they can invite friends not familiar with Christianity.  We encourage service projects, and attendance for all events.  Not all of our events will be the “fun” activities and we feel that it is important that in order for them to attend the fun events that they also are involved in our more serious activities.

Spiritual Growth:
1 Timothy 4:12. We want to take all of youth to the next level in their spiritual maturity. We will be doing this thru weekly youth group sessions as a small group for the high school and once a month gatherings with the middle school group.  We are still looking for a location for the middle school youth group gatherings.

Service Projects:
While service projects from time to time, may be “sweat equity” projects, this is not the primary way we view fundraising or service projects.  We will focus our service projects based on James 1:7-caring for others and being outwardly focused. Matt 6:19.

Fundraising:
We would like to fundraise every other month, with various options.  We are open to any suggestions. Monies from these events will support Spring Hill camp, mission trips, and our monthly gatherings.

High School Youth Group: Every Sunday starting 9/11 at the Schmidt’s house 6-8pm.  605 Cedar Run, Williamston MI 48895.  Book: The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel.  (see description below)

Who Was Jesus? A good man? A lunatic? God? There's little question that he actually lived. But miracles? Rising from the dead? Some of the stories you hear about him sound like just that--stories. A reasonable person would never believe them, let alone the claim that he's the only way to God! But a reasonable person would also make sure that he or she understood the facts before jumping to conclusions. That's why Lee Strobel--an award-winning legal journalist with a knack for asking tough questions--decided to investigate Jesus for himself. An atheist, Strobel felt certain his findings would bring Christianity's claims about Jesus tumbling down like a house of cards. He was in for the surprise of his life. Join him as he retraces his journey from skepticism to faith. You'll consult expert testimony as you sift through the truths that history, science, psychiatry, literature, and religion reveal. Like Strobel, you'll be amazed at the evidence--how much there is, how strong it is, and what it says. The facts are in. What will your verdict be in The Case for Christ?
